This almond and coffee body scrub is a DIY beauty treatment that not only smoothes and invigorates your skin, it has a wonderful "wake up" scent!
Using coffee grounds to scrub the skin increases circulation and sloughs off dead, dry skin cells. The addition of ground almonds adds a nice scent and increases the scrubbing power for smooth, silky skin. It's great for dry winter skin, or sloughing off that faded sunburn in the summer.
Remember to end with a light lotion for smooth, soft skin; preferably unscented - you don't want to compete with the scent of the scrub!
Coffee and Almond Body Scrub
- 1/2 cup ground coffee (used grounds are OK)
- 10 - 12 almonds, coarsely ground in a food processor or blender
- 1 Tbsp almond oil
Mix ingredients in a small bowl. Wet the skin (easiest in the shower) and massage the mixture over the body. You can use your hands or a washcloth.
Remember to rub gently - you don't want to scratch or irritate your skin! Apply to the body only, not the face.
Rinse well, pat skin dry and apply a light lotion to seal in the moisture. This scrub can be used weekly to keep skin soft and smooth.
A coffee scrub is a popular treatment at resort spas, especially in the Caribbean, where the bean is grown. You'll find them at spas in Puerto Rico or Costa Rica, as well as many other spas around the world. Look for it on your next spa visit!
