A homemade foot scrub is truly a treat for your tootsies! There's nothing like it at the end of a long day - soak your feet in warm water, use this scrub, then finish with a rich lotion.
Homemade body scubs do wonders for your skin, but they can't usually tackle the rough skin on your feet. This nut scrub, from The Jamu Traditional Spa at AlamKulKul Boutique Resort in Bali, sloughs off dead skin and prepares your feet to really absorb skin-softening lotions or oils. Your feet will be smooth, soft, and ready for sandals! (Of course, this is also good for winter feet, trapped in warm boots while trudging through hours of holiday shopping - what a great way to refresh!)
Jamu Nut Foot Scrub
• 7 oz. lemongrass leaves
• 2 cups boiling water
• 1 Tbsp almonds
• 1 Tbsp macadamia nuts
• 1 tsp coconut oil
- Pour boiling water over the lemongrass leaves and let them steep for 20 minutes. Cool and strain the leaves, reserving the liquid.
- In a blender or food processor, combine the nuts, oil and lemongrass liquid and blend into a smooth paste.
- Soak your feet in warm water for 10 minutes.
- Towel off and massage the paste into your feet.
- Rinse your feet, towel off, and follow with a nice lotion or oil (preferably lemon scented or unscented).
If lemongrass is difficult to obtain in your area, you may substitute a few drops of lemon oil in water for scent.
