A Homemade Hair Treatment to Detoxify and Moisturize
This homemade hair treatment will remove environmental toxins from your hair, stimulate your scalp, and add moisture to dull, lifeless locks. And everything's available at your local grocery or health food store!
This DIY beauty treatment is easy to make and only takes minutes till your hair is soft and shiny. The avocados and oils smooth the hair shaft and lock in moisture; the vinegar rinse cuts excess oil after shampooing, and adds shine.
Bali Hyatt Avocado and Essential Oil Hair Treatment
• 1 Tbsp macadamia or coconut oil
• 10 drops essential oil (eucalyptus, tea tree, or rosemary)
• 1 mashed avocado
• 2 Tbsp cider vinegar
- Carefully warm the macadamia or coconut oil and add your preferred essential oil.
- Apply the warmed oil to your hair at the roots, massaging the scalp with firm, circular movements. Work from the back neck to the forehead and sides. Work the oil to the ends of the hair.
- Apply the mashed avocado to the ends of the hair, working toward the scalp. Concentrate the avocado at the hair ends.
- Wrap your hair in a warm towel or shower cap and leave hair mask on for 15 minutes.
- Shampoo with a gentle cleanser (don't overdo it! You don't want to strip your hair of the moisture you just added). Rinse with water, then pour on the cider vinegar for a final rinse.
Your hair will be smooth, shiny, and manageable! This mask can be repeated weekly if needed, especially during the dry winter months or if your hair is damaged by the sun or chemical treatments.
