Spa Body Wrap Treatments

A spa body wrap used to be a quick way to lose a couple of pounds before a big event - of course, all that was lost was water weight and your dress was tighter than ever after having a glass of water!

Today they're used to enhance a number of spa body treatments. A seaweed wrap or herbal spa treatment is much more effective with the warmth of a body wrap.

A mudd spa treatment, seaweed wrap, or herbal spa treatment used with a body wrap are detoxifying spa treatments that help rid the body of toxins through the skin. The heat produced in the wrap produces sweat which can remove toxins from the body.

Aside from detox treatments, a wrap can be a beauty spa treatment. In a beauty skin treatment, lotions and oils are applied to the skin and the heat produced by the wrap helps the skin absorb the emollients and hydrate the skin.

In either case, the wrap is generally preceded by an exfoliating treatment, such as dry brushing or a spa salt treatment. Then the product to be used in the wrap is applied (seaweed gel, lotion, etc).

The body is then wrapped in plastic or mylar, covered in a blanket or towels, and allowed to rest for up to 20 minutes. Due to the rise in body temperature, body wraps are not advised for those with certain medical conditions - please check with your therapist.

After the wrap is removed, the product residue is removed with a shower and more lotion is applied.

While the body wrap can be done in conjunction with a massage, the application of the product or lotions is not, in itself, a massage.

The result is smooth, soft skin and a wonderful feeling of relaxation!
